Keeping in touch with the ʻāina

This year, we were able to use the little plot of a planter box right outside our hālau to begin a garden. All of our haumāna had a chance to participate and plant something of their choosing. Each haumana imbued their plants with their mana through their hā (breath). We have lāʻī (ti leaf) for protection, a selection of other plants, and some mea ʻai (food) to symbolize the nourishment of our bodies and the nourishment of our souls in hālau. This space is in progress and will eventually be a lovely place for our haumāna gather.
